Born to Run explores the persuasive potential carousels have on the formative years of a child’s cognitive development. By utilizing the appeal of play and hedonism, carousels ingrain the notion that non human animals are lesser beings than us, and exist to be conquered, possessed, domesticated, and ultimately fulfill our desires for unconditional love and entertainment. The text and title are derived from a Bruce Springsteen song and repurposed to reference the notion that horses, and all animals, are meant to live free.
